Website & Directory Terms

Terms of Use

Terms governing the public FirmsVault website and legal directory, including important limits on legal advice, directory status, and attorney-client relationships.

Effective August 22, 2026
This page is part of the FirmsVault production policy set. Product, security, and data-handling behavior must remain consistent with these disclosures. Material changes should receive legal and security review before publication.

Scope of these Terms

These Terms govern use of the public FirmsVault website and legal directory. Use of the authenticated FirmsVault software by a law firm, organization, or its users may be governed by a separate order form, master services agreement, subscription agreement, data-processing terms, or other customer contract. If those terms conflict with these website Terms for use of the paid service, the applicable customer agreement controls.

Directory and listing information

Directory information may come from public or third-party business sources, law firms, users, and FirmsVault status processes. FirmsVault does not guarantee that every listing is complete, current, or suitable for a particular legal matter. Users should independently evaluate a lawyer or law firm before retaining counsel.

Profile status labels describe the status defined in the Directory Standards. A FirmsVault status is not a promise about legal skill, outcome, disciplinary history, or fitness for a particular matter unless the standard expressly says so.

Acceptable use

You may use the public site for lawful business, informational, and directory purposes. You may not interfere with the service, attempt unauthorized access, scrape or harvest data in violation of technical restrictions or applicable law, submit false claim requests, impersonate another person or organization, upload malicious content, or use the service to facilitate unlawful activity.

Accounts and firm-controlled content

If you create or manage an account, you are responsible for providing accurate information, protecting authentication credentials, and promptly notifying FirmsVault of suspected unauthorized access. A person claiming or editing a law-firm profile represents that they are authorized to do so.

Law firms are responsible for the accuracy and legality of information they submit to a claimed profile, including professional claims, advertising statements, practice descriptions, and contact information.

Intellectual property

FirmsVault and its licensors retain rights in the website, software, design, branding, and platform materials. These Terms do not transfer ownership of FirmsVault technology. Firms and users retain rights they otherwise have in information they lawfully submit, subject to the permissions reasonably necessary for FirmsVault to operate the requested service.

Third-party services and links

FirmsVault may link to or integrate with third-party services. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. A link or integration does not necessarily mean FirmsVault endorses the third party.

Availability and disclaimers

We work to keep FirmsVault reliable and secure, but public website and directory functions may change, be interrupted, or contain errors. To the extent permitted by law, public website content and directory information are provided without a guarantee that they will be uninterrupted, error-free, or appropriate for every purpose.

Responsibility and limitations

To the extent permitted by applicable law, FirmsVault is not responsible for legal advice provided by independent lawyers or law firms, the formation or outcome of a lawyer-client relationship, or decisions made in reliance on unverified directory information. Any contractual limitations that apply to a paid FirmsVault subscription are governed by the applicable customer agreement.

Changes and contact

We may update these Terms when the website, directory, or applicable requirements change. The effective date should be updated when revised Terms are published. Questions about these Terms may be sent to hello@firmsvault.com.

Before public launch, counsel should confirm the operating legal entity, governing-law and dispute provisions, required notices, and any jurisdiction-specific lawyer-directory or advertising requirements.
